Sweetheart Program

The girl of my dreams is the sweetest girl,
of all the girls I know
~From the lyrics of The Sweetheart of Sigma Chi

Who is a Sweetheart?

Sigma Chis often refer to their wives and girlfriends as "sweethearts" and undergraduates elect official chapter sweethearts each year. The Fraternity selects one International Sweetheart to serve as an ambassador to the membership for a two-year period.

Chapter Sweethearts

The chapter sweetheart has the opportunity to make a great impact on the chapter that she serves. Undergraduates, click here to learn how to create or improve your chapter sweetheart program. Ladies, visit the Chapter Sweethearts page for tips about how to positively affect your chapter, and to read a message from the past International Sweetheart, Amy Jackson.

International Sweetheart

International Sweetheart Sydney BinningtonThe International Sweetheart of Sigma Chi has held a distinguished role in our organization since Barbara Tanner was first crowned in 1948 by Significant Sig John Wayne, Southern California 1929. Since then, an International Sweetheart has been chosen once every two years at Grand Chapter. Each young lady has represented the ideals of the White Cross and lived Sigma Chi's core values of friendship, justice and learning while making her own personal contributions to the Fraternity. Long after the official term is over, the International Sweetheart maintains a special place in the Fraternity. Click here to view a list of past International Sweethearts.

At the 2011 Grand Chapter, undergraduate delegates voted Sydney Binnington the 2011-13 International Sweetheart. Sydney is a senior at the University of Western Ontario, where she is a history and political science major. Sydney is a member of the Pi Beta Phi Fraternity, and upon graduation, Sydney plans to attend law school and eventually open her own law firm.

You may e-mail Sydney with questions or requests for visits at sydney.binnington@sigmachi.org. You can also contact Headquarters at sweetheart@sigmachi.org with questions for Sydney. Please keep in mind that the chapter is responsible for all of her travel expenses.
