New Chapter at RIT

April 13, 2011

The Fraternity welcomed its 240th undergraduate chapter on April 9, 2011, with the installation of the Lambda Kappa chapter at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Thirty-three men were initiated into the Fraternity as part of the installation.

Our journey through the colonization process has given us the unique opportunity to develop a relationship with Sigma Chi and our university with the hopes of becoming a Sigma Chi chapter,” the new members wrote in their petition to the Fraternity to have their colony installed as a chapter. “This project has inspired our ambition and our commitment to complete the task set before [our colony’s] founders just over a year ago: to build a sustainable, long lasting Sigma Chi chapter.”

RIT is now the sixth chapter in the Fraternity’s Northwestern New York Province. “I know from my personal acquaintance and interactions with [the RIT chapter] that we now have a stellar group of very deserving young men and proven campus leaders available to us,” wrote Order of Constantine Sig Frank McDonald, KETTERING 1965, to the General Fraternity. McDonald is the regional director, or Grand Praetor, of the Northwestern New York Province.
