Give Your Time

The following volunteer opportunities are offered to alumni who would like to support the undergraduate experience by lending their time and talents:

During this biennium, Sigma Chi will continue to be focused on; the empowerment and utilization of the volunteer, providing additional resources for our undergraduate and alumni chapters, and ensuring that our Headquarters continues its "member service" focus. We will strive for the best possible execution, enhancement and integration of all our various programs. With these educational and leadership programs, we will strive to integrate each operation to insure consistent and complimentary programming and provide the benefit of efficiency with resources. We will seek to utilize technological advances where economically possible and we will be fiscally responsible in every manner. A special focus will be made on our Pledge Education Program and as well as our communication channels and messages to the various constituents and general community.

If you would like to serve on a committe during the next biennium, please complete the Committe Interest Form.

Alumni Ambassador Program

The Alumni Service Team is currently searching for volunteers for our Alumni Ambassador program.

In short, the Alumni Ambassador Program (AAP) aims to identify and train alumni to be effective alumni chapter officers and leaders by giving them the tools and resources to impact their alumni chapter and local Sigma Chi communities. A more detailed overview of the program and expectations are attached for your review.

Through specific instruction and training, an Ambassador will become a great resource and catalyst to Grand Praetors, undergraduate chapters and our 200,000 living alumni.
For detailed information, click here.

You can click here to view the first round of Alumni Ambassadors and the areas that they represent. You will notice that there are still some provinces that we are seeking Ambassadors. If you are interested in volunteering your time in this role, please contact Mike McFadden, Director of Alumni Services, at Mike.Mcfadden@sigmachi.org or (847) 869-3655 xt. 254.

Cornerstone Mentors

The role of a Cornerstone mentor is to assess a chapter’s alignment with and practice of the mission, principles, and the ideals of Sigma Chi; to identify and diagnose the discrepancies between the ideals of the Fraternity and how Sigma Chi is actually practiced at the local level; and, where necessary, to serve as a catalyst for change.

As Cornerstone launches in new regions, new brothers are needed to be trained to serve 3-5 year commitments as mentors. As a mentor it is expected that you have the desire and ability to effectively engage and counsel undergraduates, with a special responsibility to reach out to chapter leaders (elected and non-elected) and to any individual brothers in need of mentoring.

Mentors have an unequivocal commitment to the ideals of Sigma Chi, willingness to be a role model and close accessibility and availability to the chapter and its members. Effective mentoring involves regular interaction with the mentee and/or chapter. Ideally this would be weekly and in a variety of settings.

To find out more information, please contact Tim Homan.

Alumni Big Brothers

By working with the Alumni Big Brother Program, you will help:

  • Cultivate meaningful, lifelong relationships between undergraduates and alumni.

  • Further educate undergraduate brothers about their responsibilities to Sigma Chi and its role in their lives, and assist alumni brothers in the development of personal mentoring skills.

  • Provide an outlet for undergraduates to gain relevant advice, and for alumni to share life experiences and assist in a younger brother's development.

  • Create opportunities for all brothers to fulfill their lifelong commitment to Sigma Chi.

Horizons Faciltator

As an alumnus member of Sigma Chi Fraternity, you are eligible to serve as a Horizons facilitator. Facilitators are immersed in the same interactive learning experienced by undergraduate participants. You will be highly trained to inspire, and share the Horizons journey with the undergraduates of Sigma Chi. If you are interested in Horizons Facilitator Training, please contact us at horizons@sigmachi.org to request an application. Our next facilitator training will be conducted May 26-31, 2006.

Chapter Advisor's Board

Alumni and community support is critical to the long-term success of any Sigma Chi undergraduate chapter. Those chapters with consistent and extensive alumni involvement tend to be our best chapters. To ensure that every Sigma Chi chapter realizes its full potential, local area alumni are needed to help set a solid foundation for success now and into the future. Click here to learn more about participating on a Chapter Advisor's board.
