Dear Readers,

Country singer Luke Bryan, GEORGIA SOUTHERN 1999, has come a long way since 2007, when his debut album, I’ll Stay Me, was released, and he played at Clemson’s Derby Days. Now, he’s opening for country star Tim McGraw, who has had seven albums go at least triple-platinum. It is clear that Bryan, who was named the Academy of Country Music’s top new artist and top new solo vocalist in 2009, now plays to a much wider audience than the one he entertained at Littlejohn Coliseum in Clemson, S.C., at the 2007 Derby Days.

Yet the musician seems to have remained grounded. He acknowledges fans in the crowd at his concerts when he realizes they are Sigma Chis, and at recent gig in Dallas, Texas, Bryan was excited to pose for a photo with 66th Grand Consul Wayne Tucker, BAYLOR 1985. Both parties were pleased to have had the opportunity to meet.

I hope you enjoy learning more about Bryan and other Sigma Chi musicians in this issue. Please send your thoughts on what you enjoyed, what you believe could improve, or what you would like to see in upcoming issues, to susan.lorimor@sigmachi.org.
